Magic class changes
The primary change happening here is that we're introducing spell damage as an armor attribute. Mage armors will now grant spell damage which increases the damage output of offense spells, and other armors like leather and ranger armor will typically give negative spell damage which will decrease the effectiveness of offense spells. This change is in response to the quickly growing trend of magic users never using magic armors in combat, preferring instead to use something like ranger armor and then merely swapping to magic armor to regenerate mana between fights. I'm hoping this addition will give magic users a reason to actually use their magic armor in combat, and make magic as a primary combat style feasible again.
- Magic armors (Apprentice, Mage, Magister) now grant spell damage (+10%, +20%, +50% respectively).
- Other armors that do not inhibit spell casting now have slight negative spell damage.
- The base damage of all offense spells have been decreased by 10% to balance the increased damage output of magic users with spell damage.
- The mana regen armor attribute is now displayed as a percentage of total effectiveness rather than a decimal. This makes it consistent with how spell damage is displayed and I believe is easier to understand than it was before.
Website updates
- You can now look up player profiles to view interesting information about them. Give it a try!
- The leaderboards now link each player in the list to their profile.
- The homepage now has a carousel of screenshots from players.
- You can contribute new screenshots to the carousel here!
Bug fixes/Other changes
- The web in the Spider boss area now has a baseplate under it so items and projectiles don't slip through.
- Did some tweaks to crash/disconnect protection that might(?) improve its effectiveness.
- Fixed a miscalculation that was occurring when applying an armor's mana regen adjustment. (This might be observed as a nerf to the mana regen on magic armors, but it also subtly affects the negative mana regen of other armors as well)
- Added some new debug information that might help me better investigate reported issues with crash/disconnect protection. Please continue to report issues you have with rejoining after a crash/disconnect.
- I've reduced the ghost limit somewhat. This might reduce the rate of runtime errors due to less memory usage.
- Your alignment is now influenced by your dealings with demonic forces.
And that's about it. The servers should be going up later today; however, Conan will not be hosting US-West today since he is currently using his VPS to host... something else.
