I'm aware of most of these issues, but it mainly is just due to blockland physics not being all that great and so it is hard to address elegantly. I'll continue tweaking it in the next update to hopefully make it better.

Isn't that part of the AI that it jumps up there and spawns spiders or something?

These are somewhat unlikely but we do have plans for revamping most combat in the future.

This will probably be added once ghost updates stop being an issue. For the moment though we can't afford the extra networking cost of doing this since the game is already strained to the limit when it comes to ghost updates.

It could be used with a Dragon Dagger to buff it or maybe also work as a standalone item. Depends on the strength of the shields. If it blocks the f/i ice power, it would really debuff f/i, which is great

The option to forgive someone (within 60 seconds) of grievously hurting you.
/forgive name - -or- - /f name
/donotforgive name - -or- - /nof name
(multiple suggestions for shortening and in case you already have commands that are spelled that way)
For some who accidentally hit people once or twice.
Multiple people have orange names without intending to, since they're not in guilds.
Going to Troll/Spider as groups when not in a single guild can result in a few orange names.

Do not give player killer status unless they
1. actually kill another player, and
2. the victim types /donotforgive (or doesn't type /forgive within 60 seconds)
3. the victim typed /forgive name and then gets killed by said name
I was testing Feast and Famine on Drynium and got player killer status without killing him, or dropping his hp below half.
(Fun fact:Poison inflicted on a friendly lowers alignment once every 2 ticks.)
(I'm not a coder, idk how hard this would be to implement.)

I know the PVP vote happened and that might influence your thoughts, but someone suggested the Terraria method (I guess that's "opt in" huh).
Another could be you can only engage in pvp with those within 5 or 10 levels of you.
This would be hugely useful for boss rushes (or raids or whatever you'd like to call them) and another niche use is for teleporting someone to you to loan you some money to buy a rare shop item (i have encountered this issue twice)
Edit: Along with this if you just want to teleport one person to you you can use "lesser gateway" and just warp em to you with a 6 second timer like the recall spell
